Weight-Gain
The Thyroid Gland is directly responsible for your metabolism. Hormones are the biggest determining factor when it comes to weight and thyroid hormone is one of the primary hormones that regulate weight and energy levels. Many people with Hashimoto’s struggle with their weight. Because of this most people with Hashimoto’s have a very hard time losing weight and keeping it off despite diet/exercise
Adrenal Fatigue
Treating hypothyroidism without treating the adrenals is one of the main reasons people continue to feel exhausted despite receiving thyroid treatment. Patients may initially report feeling more energetic after starting thyroid hormones, but this is usually followed by feeling worse then when started the thyroid medications. Unfortunately they will go back to their physicians to check blood work and will be told that everything is normal.
The patient begins to feel crazy … many symptoms of hypothyroidism actually overlap with symptoms of underactive adrenals. The problem is physicians don’t routinely check adrenal function in those with Hashimoto’s.
Hashimotos
Hashimoto’s is much more then just a thyroid problem! Most patients with Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism have it because of prior conditions such as acid reflux, nutrient deficiencies, anemia, leaky gut, food allergies and adrenal insufficiency that have triggered the Hashimotos. People with Hashimotos also experience symptoms of impaired digestion/absorption, anxiety, chronic fatigue and chemical/environmental allergies triggered by the hypothyroid function.
